After working in a veterinary clinic, the call of nature sent me back to school in Biology. During my undergrads in animal ecology, I’ve worked in forestry but I was missing the sea. Since I’m studying oceanography, I feel like home!

Population Connectivity, PC-08: Source and supply of zooplankton and fish populations in a Marine Park

Using stable isotopes to determine the potential sources of Calanus species in a Marine Protected Area, the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park (SSLMP).

The specific project/thesis aims projects are:

    1. Evaluate if Calanus spp. in the SSLMP originates from local and/or external sources.
    2. Describing stable isotopes dynamics of diapausing Calanus spp.
    3. Development of a method using stable isotopes as a marker to track the origin of Calanus spp. during their overwintering transport in the St. Lawrence water masses.

This study will help to assess the connectivity between Calanus spp. populations of the Marine Park and surrounding areas.
